The squad was founded on 15th April 2006. This was mainly due to two young archers wanting to attract more archers and get more archers representing staffordshire at competitions, as at the time there were very few. However, last Junior National Championships we had the best turn out of representative archers out of any county in the UK. The squad has over 20 members, most of which like to go out and compete although we do not push any that do not want to shoot competitively. The squad has a committee made from the parents of the juniors in the squad.

The current members of the squad are very successful. All have shot for their county, most for their region and three for England. One archer is on the GB squad and we hope to have more join him. All juniors who are registered with a club from within staffordshire are all welcome despite the level they shoot at.

Within the squad days archers are given talks about archery-related things such as bow setup, warm ups, exercises and competition preparation. We try to make the squad days fun and entertaining with the aim that the archer can go to shoot but also have some fun as a reward for their hard work.

We run 2 elite squad days a year, generally at Lilleshall national sports centre. We also run 2 whole squad days a year which will be held at various facilities within staffordshire. We provide support, help and different levels of coaching for our archers.

We have an awards dinner once a year to show our appreciation to the archers and relations.

We organise some events each year including: indoor and outdoor county shoots, FITA 720 and Head to Head, and also an inter-county shoot at which we will shoot against other counties to ahow how good we are.
